Avenues for Justice is currently accepting applications for two positions.

1. Court Advocate:

General Responsibilities
1. Provide direct services to at-risk youth in the East Harlem area in order to divert them from a life of crime and incarceration.
2. Help clients gain a sense of their ability to control and direct their lives in a law-abiding direction by instilling in them an understanding and acceptance of their moral responsibility for the consequences of their actions.
3. Maintain client files, monitor cases and serve as an advocate for clients in court proceedings.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
1. Interview clients referred for assistance.
2. Develop an individualized plan for each client to provide counseling, referrals, crisis intervention, street supervision and court advocacy as needed.
3. Establish and maintain trust and rapport with each assigned client.
4. Develop cordial working relations with all segments of the criminal justice system and represent the agency at events and outreach forums.
5. Develop and maintain rapport with community organizations and leaders.
6. Maintain current files on all clients and submit summary statistical reports on a regular basis.
7. Perform all other duties assigned by the Executive Director.

Additional Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required, but candidates with demonstrated experience with youth and/or knowledge of the East Harlem Community may be considered.
- Must be an East Harlem resident.
- The position also requires the ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents and administration. Creativity and strong organizational skills are required.
- Bilingual - Spanish/English preferred.

2. Social Media & Data Assistant:

The Social Media & Data Assistant manages our social media accounts and website and assists with data collection. Person will also have marketing and events responsibilities.

Social Media Responsibilities:
Implement and execute organization’s social media strategy, which includes managing and updating Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. Pitch new ideas for content across these platforms and execute social media projects. Regularly update website with new content, events, and photo galleries.

Marketing Responsibilities:
Assist with marketing marquee events such as annual gala. Responsible for updating website with event information and assisting with other event needs such as organizing photos and creating PowerPoint presentations. Will be asked to write participant and graduate profiles. Responsible for quarterly newsletter.

Will use Salesforce and Virtual Response to support development team, track, analyze and cultivate new donors from online (Network for Good) donations.

Data Collection Responsibilities:
Facilitate monthly internal data collection process with Court Advocates. Must have familiarity with Microsoft Excel. Assist with data projects needed for annual reports.

A bachelor's degree is required. Professional experience managing social media preferred, or please include description of previous experience working on long term social media projects and campaigns for an organization or in an institutional capacity in your cover letter.
